NovyJump, Inc.
Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how NovyJump, Inc. (“NovyJump,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information when you use the NovyJump mobile application (the “App”) and any related services, websites, and support channels (together with the App, the “Services”).
NovyJump operates a platform for interactive narrative games. Some people use the Services as readers, who play games, and others use them as creators (authors), who publish, distribute, localize, and monetize the games they make. This policy covers both and points out where a practice applies specifically to creators. It is designed to align with applicable United States state privacy laws and the European data protection framework. Where a specific law gives you rights or requires specific disclosures, the relevant section below explains how it applies.
By accessing or using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read this policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the Services.
2. Who We Are and How to Contact Us
NovyJump, Inc. is the entity responsible for the personal information described in this policy. For European data protection purposes, NovyJump is the “controller” of that information.

3. Scope of This Policy
This policy applies to personal information we process through the Services. It does not apply to:
- The Apple App Store, Google Play, or other platforms you use to download the App. Their handling of your information is governed by their own privacy policies.
- Third-party products, websites, or services that the App may link to or integrate with, which are governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
- Information you choose to make public or share through channels we do not control.
4. Information We Collect
The categories of information we may collect depend on how you interact with the App. We aim to collect only what we need to operate the App, fix problems, and improve the experience.
4.1 Information you provide to us
- Account information. If sign-up is required, this may include your name or display name, email address, and the credentials or platform identifier used to register (for example, the email tied to your Apple or Google account).
- Creator profile information. If you publish as a creator, the public profile details you provide, such as your author or studio name, biography, avatar, and links.
- Feedback and support communications. Bug reports, survey responses, screenshots, and messages you send to hello@novyjump.com or through in-app feedback tools, including any information you choose to include.
- Reader content and gameplay choices. Saves, progress, in-game decisions, and any text or content you create while playing.
- Creator content and uploads. The games and projects you upload to publish through the Services (for example, Ren’Py or Ink projects), along with source files, assets, cover art, titles, descriptions, localization text, and related metadata.
- Payout and tax information (creators). To pay creators and meet our reporting obligations, we collect payout details (such as a payout method or the information you provide to our payment processor) and tax information (such as a taxpayer identification number and the details on tax forms like a W-9 or W-8).
- Identity and verification information (creators). Where needed to verify your identity or eligibility for payouts, or to comply with legal requirements, we may collect verification information you provide.
4.2 Information we collect automatically
- Device and technical information. Device model, operating system and version, language and region settings, app version and build, and similar technical attributes.
- Usage and diagnostic information. Features used, session length, in-app events, performance metrics, and crash logs and stack traces that help us diagnose problems.
- Identifiers. App-generated or device identifiers used to recognize a device across sessions, such as an installation ID and, where applicable, advertising identifiers (for example, Apple’s IDFA or Google’s Advertising ID) used for the advertising described in Section 14.
- Advertising data. Because the App is supported by advertising, information about the ads served to you and your interactions with them, collected by us or our advertising partners.
- Approximate location. Coarse location inferred from IP address. We do not collect precise GPS location unless a feature requires it and you grant permission.
4.3 Information from third parties
- App stores and distribution platforms. Apple and Google may share limited information about your downloads and aggregated crash or usage data, subject to their policies.
- Service providers. Analytics and crash-reporting providers we use may supply us with the diagnostic information described above.
5. How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above for the following purposes:
- To provide, operate, and maintain the App, including saving progress and delivering features.
- To diagnose, debug, and fix crashes and other technical problems, and to improve performance, stability, and design.
- To understand how the App is used and to develop new features and content.
- To publish, distribute, localize, and display creator content through the Services and connect it with readers.
- To calculate and make payments to creators, including revenue share, and to keep the related financial records.
- To provide creators with analytics about how their content performs.
- To verify identity and eligibility and to meet tax, accounting, and reporting obligations.
- To show and measure advertising in the App, including, depending on your choices and settings, personalized ads (see Section 14).
- To respond to your feedback, questions, and support requests.
- To protect the security and integrity of the Services and to detect, prevent, and address fraud or abuse.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
We do not use your information for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects about you. Because the App is supported by advertising, we may share certain identifiers and usage information with advertising partners; depending on how ads are configured, this can be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information or cross-context behavioral advertising under some U.S. state laws. You can exercise choices over this as described in Sections 12 and 14.
6. Legal Bases for Processing (EEA, UK, and Switzerland)
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we process your personal information only where we have a valid legal basis to do so:
| Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Providing and operating the App you requested | Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) |
| Paying creators and keeping financial and tax records | Performance of a contract; legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(b), (c)) |
| Crash and bug diagnostics, security, and abuse prevention | Legitimate interests in a stable, secure product (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
| Analytics and product improvement | Consent where required; otherwise legitimate interests |
| Personalized advertising | Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) |
| Responding to your requests and support | Legitimate interests; performance of a contract |
| Complying with legal obligations | Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) |
Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting processing carried out before withdrawal. Where we rely on legitimate interests, you may object as described in Section 11.
7. How We Share Information
We share personal information only in the circumstances below. Some sharing for advertising may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” under U.S. state privacy laws; see Sections 12 and 14 for your choices.
- Service providers (processors). Vendors that host our infrastructure and provide analytics, crash reporting, and communications, who process information on our behalf under contract.
- App distribution platforms. Apple and Google, in connection with distributing the App.
- Payment processors. Providers that handle payouts to creators and process the related payment and tax information on our behalf.
- Advertising partners. Ad networks and measurement providers that serve and measure ads in the App. Depending on your settings, these partners may receive identifiers and usage information and may use them to personalize ads across other apps and websites.
- Other users and the public. Your creator profile and the content you choose to publish are shown to readers and may be publicly visible. Please do not include information in your public profile or published works that you do not want others to see.
- Legal and safety. Where required to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, enforce our terms, or protect the rights, safety, and property of NovyJump, our users, or others.
- Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.
- With your direction or consent. When you ask us to share information or otherwise consent to sharing.
8. International Data Transfers
NovyJump is based in the United States, and the information we collect is processed in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate. These countries may not provide the same level of data protection as your home country.
Where we transfer personal information from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland to a country that has not received an adequacy decision, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK Addendum / IDTA where relevant). You may request a copy of the relevant safeguards by contacting us at hello@novyjump.com.
9. Data Retention and Deletion
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, including operating the Services, resolving issues, and meeting legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.
9.1 Deleting your account and your data
If the App lets you create an account, you can request deletion of your account and the personal information associated with it at any time, in either of the following ways:
- In the App. Use the account deletion option in the App’s settings to initiate deletion directly within the App.
- On the web or by email. So that you can request deletion without reinstalling the App, you may also email us at hello@novyjump.com from the address associated with your account.
When you ask us to delete your account, we delete the personal information associated with it—including saved progress, gameplay choices, and content you created in the App—except where we are permitted or required to retain certain information, for example to comply with a legal obligation, prevent fraud or abuse, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. Where such retention applies, we keep only what is necessary and for no longer than necessary. Deactivating or uninstalling the App does not, by itself, delete your account or your data.
If you are a creator, deleting your account removes your creator profile and unpublishes your content from the Services going forward. Some information may still need to be retained—for example, payment and tax records we are required to keep under applicable law—and copies of content that has already been distributed or downloaded by readers may persist outside our control. Contact us at hello@novyjump.com if you have questions about deleting a creator account.
10. How We Protect Your Information
We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, and alteration. These measures may include encryption in transit, access controls, and limiting who can access data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Your Rights in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland
If you are located in these regions, you have the following rights regarding your personal information, subject to legal limits:
- Access — to obtain confirmation of and a copy of the information we hold about you.
- Rectification — to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Erasure — to ask us to delete your information in certain circumstances.
- Restriction — to ask us to limit processing in certain circumstances.
- Portability — to receive certain information in a portable format.
- Objection — to object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent.
To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@novyjump.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
12. Your Rights in the United States
Depending on the state you live in, U.S. state privacy laws (such as those in California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and a growing number of other states) may give you some or all of the following rights regarding your personal information:
- The right to know or access the personal information we have collected about you and how we use and disclose it.
- The right to correct inaccurate personal information.
- The right to delete personal information we have collected from you.
- The right to data portability — to obtain a copy of your information.
- The right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information and of targeted/cross-context behavioral advertising.
- The right to limit the use and disclosure of sensitive personal information.
- The right not to be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights.
Because the App is supported by advertising, we may “sell” or “share” certain identifiers and usage information (such as advertising identifiers and app activity) for targeted advertising, as those terms are defined under U.S. state privacy laws. You have the right to opt out: see “Your advertising choices” in Section 14, or contact us at hello@novyjump.com. We do not knowingly “sell” or “share” the personal information of consumers under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly process sensitive personal information beyond what is described in this policy.
12.1 Categories of personal information (California notice)
In the 12 months before this policy’s effective date, we may collect or have collected the following categories of personal information under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended (CCPA/CPRA):
| CCPA category | Collected? | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Identifiers | Yes | Display name, email, device/installation ID |
| Internet/network activity | Yes | App usage, events, crash logs |
| Geolocation (coarse) | Yes | Approximate location from IP |
| Customer records (Cal. Civ. Code §1798.80) | Possibly | Name and email if you register; payout and tax details for creators |
| Commercial information | Yes (creators) | Creator payout and revenue/transaction records |
| Biometric information | No | — |
| Professional information | Possibly | Author/studio name and business details creators provide |
| Sensitive personal information | Limited | Account login credentials; for creators, financial account information and government-issued identifiers collected for payouts or verification |
The categories we “sell” or “share” for advertising are identifiers (including advertising identifiers) and internet/network activity; we do not sell or share the other categories listed above. To exercise your rights, email hello@novyjump.com. We will verify your request before acting on it and will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. You may use an authorized agent where the law permits. If we deny a request, you may appeal by replying to our decision.
13. Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age limits below without appropriate consent:
- In the United States, the App is intended for users 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (under the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, COPPA).
- In the EEA and UK, the App is intended for users at or above the applicable age of digital consent (generally 13 to 16 depending on the country).
- Creators who publish or monetize content through the Services must be at least 18, or the age of majority in their jurisdiction if higher, because doing so involves agreements and payments.
If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at hello@novyjump.com and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
14. Advertising, Cookies, and Similar Technologies
The App is a mobile application and does not rely on browser cookies. It may use on-device storage, software development kits (SDKs), and similar technologies to remember settings, recognize your device across sessions, and collect the diagnostic and usage information described in Section 4. Any related websites may use cookies, which would be governed by a separate cookie notice on those sites.
14.1 Advertising
The App is supported by advertising. We work with third-party advertising partners (such as mobile ad networks and measurement providers) that may use SDKs and identifiers, including advertising identifiers, to serve and measure ads. Depending on your choices and settings, ads may be personalized—selected based on your activity and identifiers, including across other companies’ apps and websites—or non-personalized (contextual). Personalized advertising may involve sharing identifiers and usage information with advertising partners, which can be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information under some U.S. state laws. We do not knowingly use the personal information of users under 16 for personalized advertising without the consent required by law.
14.2 Your advertising choices
- Apple devices. Where the App asks to track you across other companies’ apps and websites, it requests permission through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt. You can change this anytime in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
- Android devices. You can reset or delete your Advertising ID and opt out of ad personalization in Settings › Google › Ads (or your device’s equivalent).
- EEA, UK, and Switzerland. Where we rely on consent for personalized advertising, you can decline or withdraw consent at any time without affecting non-personalized ads.
- U.S. state opt-out. You can opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information for targeted advertising using the device controls above or by emailing hello@novyjump.com. Where required, we honor recognized opt-out preference signals (such as Global Privacy Control) on any related website.
Opting out of personalized advertising does not remove ads; you may still see non-personalized (contextual) ads.
15. App Store and Platform Disclosures
15.1 Apple App Store
Consistent with Apple’s requirements, our App Privacy “nutrition label” describes the data the App collects and how it is used. Because the App includes advertising, where it tracks you across apps and websites owned by other companies it will request your permission through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt, and you can change this in your device settings.
15.2 Google Play
Consistent with Google Play requirements, our Data Safety section describes the data the App collects and shares, the purposes, and the security practices that apply. The information in this policy is intended to be consistent with that disclosure. Where the App shares data with advertising partners, that sharing is reflected in our Data Safety disclosure. You can request deletion of your account and associated data as described in Section 9.
16. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate or required, provide additional notice (for example, an in-app message). Your continued use of the App after an update takes effect means you have reviewed the changes.
17. Contact Us
